Carousel Kitchen, the wonder of food, every day
Homemade meals, familiar Nordic ingredients and the many languages of food. At Carousel, meals are prepared with care and shared as part of a calm, joyful daily rhythm.
Made here, with care
Our kitchen is part of the nursery community. Meals are prepared at Carousel with the warmth of home and the care of a professional kitchen, then shared around the table with conversation, familiar flavours and gentle encouragement to discover something new.
Food is part of learning
Mealtimes are learning moments. Children explore colour, texture, smell and taste; practise language, independence and table skills; and experience the pleasure of eating together. Food related projects and visits help children notice where ingredients come from and how the seasons shape what we eat. Adults offer calm encouragement and age-appropriate choice, creating a safe space for children to become familiar with new foods without pressure.
From soil to table
Our connection with Ilmolan tila in Kirkkonummi gives children a real relationship with where food begins. Through regular visits, they can explore how vegetables are grown, help with harvesting and see how fresh ingredients are prepared and shared as part of a meal.
Children can harvest fresh vegetables that become part of lunch at the farm—turning food into something they can touch, question and understand, from the soil beneath their boots to lunch around the table.
Allergies and individual dietary needs
We plan documented dietary needs carefully in collaboration with families and nursery staff. Please share your child’s allergies or medical dietary requirements during the admissions process so the team can explain the practical arrangements for your child.
Questions families often ask
Are meals prepared at the nursery?
Yes. Carousel Kitchen prepares meals as part of nursery life, bringing the warmth of home together with the care of a professional kitchen.
How do you support allergies and dietary requirements?
Documented dietary needs are planned carefully with families and nursery staff. Please tell us about your child’s allergies or medical dietary requirements during admissions so we can explain the arrangements clearly.
What if my child is cautious with new foods?
Children are encouraged, never forced. Familiar foods, small choices and repeated low-pressure experiences help children build confidence with new colours, flavours and textures at their own pace.
